BLDC Motor

The rotor of BLDC ceiling fans is made of a permanent magnet. In addition, the copper winding is employed in the stator, which generates magnetic flux after energy is supplied.

The magnetic force pushes the rotor to rotate when two polarities (for instance, S & S, N & N) are present on the rotor and stator. The polarity in the stator is changed for continuous rotation in the rotor. The same contradiction occurs on the rotor and stator each time, which aids in rotational movement in the rotor. An electrical drive is used in a BLDC motor fan for constant polarity changes in the stator.

BLDC Drive

In the BLDC Drive, an SMPS is utilized to convert AC power to DC power, and a microcontroller takes inputs from the controller and transmits output to the inverter correspondingly. Finally, the inverter runs the motor after receiving a signal from the Microcontroller.

Because no heat is generated in a BLDC motor, the lifespan of ceiling fan bearings is extended; also, there are fewer chances of winding failure due to the use of high-thickness copper cable inside the coil.

Commutation is a rotational movement technique that involves altering the direction of the current in the motor. Because there are no brushes in a BLDC motor, the driving algorithm completes the commutation.

The key benefit is that commutators in brushed motors can wear out over time due to mechanical contact; this is not the case with BLDC motors, making them more durable for prolonged use.
